HAN University of Applied Sciences
HAN University of Applied Sciences connects education, applied research and professional practice to help organisations address today’s digital challenges. Within the School of IT and Media Design, the Media Design research group — Lectoraat Media Design — focuses on how people interact with apps, websites, systems and digital content. Its applied research explores how digital services can become more usable, accessible and meaningful for diverse users.
Working closely with practice partners, students and end users, the research group uses design-oriented research methods to generate insights, evaluate existing solutions and develop guidelines for new digital technologies. A strong emphasis lies on user research, inclusive design and making digital products easier to understand and use for everyone, including people with limited digital skills or disabilities.
Led by lector Wouter Sluis-Thiescheffer, the Media Design research group contributes knowledge, tools and practical recommendations that support organisations in creating human-centred digital innovation. Its work strengthens both professional practice and education, preparing future designers and developers to build technology with real social value.
