The Digital Transformation CoLAB (DTx) is a non-profit private association in Portugal, established on 10 May 2018, with the mission to lead digital transformation across organizations, processes, and competencies.
Based in Guimarães at the University of Minho’s Azurém Campus, DTx operates at the intersection of physical, digital, and cybernetic domains. Its goal is to develop next-generation cyber-physical systems that blur the boundaries between the real and virtual worlds.
DTx collaborates with a diverse group of over 20 associates from academia, research institutions, and industry, including the University of Minho, IKEA Industry Portugal, Bosch Car Multimedia Portugal, and Accenture.
The organization’s R&D activities encompass various project typologies:
Specific Projects: Addressing concrete application challenges.
Prospective Projects: Strategic developments over a 3 to 5-year timeframe.
Co-financed Projects: Supported by national or European programs.
Direct Projects: Financed directly by involved companies.
Key research areas include software and information systems (AI, IoT, cybersecurity), sensors and hardware (micro/nanoelectronics), human factors (HMI, ethical issues), advanced materials, and intelligent manufacturing aligned with Industry 4.0 principles.
