Digital Manufacturing Ireland

Digital Manufacturing Ireland (DMI) is an industry-led national centre of excellence based in Limerick, Ireland, dedicated to supporting Irish-based manufacturers in accessing, adopting, and accelerating new digital technologies. DMI’s mission is to drive the digital and cultural transformation of the manufacturing value chain, enhancing competitiveness and ensuring resilience in the face of global challenges.  

Officially opened on March 27, 2023, DMI operates from the IDA Ireland National Technology Park in Limerick. The facility features a 12,000 sq.ft ‘Digital Factory’ equipped with a fully representative end-to-end physical and digital production line, including digital twin capabilities. This setup allows manufacturers to test and deploy the latest digital technologies in a real-world environment.  

DMI’s core capabilities encompass:

  • Digital Transformation Strategy: Developing tailored strategies to integrate digital technologies into manufacturing processes.

  • Innovative Technology Adoption: Facilitating the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Human-Centric Manufacturing: Focusing on organizational culture and workforce engagement to drive digital adoption.

  • Operations Readiness: Ensuring manufacturers are prepared to implement and sustain digital transformations.

  • Sustainable Deployment: Promoting environmentally sustainable practices within manufacturing operations.

 

DMI has established Centres of Excellence, including:

  • Cognitive Manufacturing Group: Aiming to position Ireland as a global leader in the research, development, and deployment of vision technology in manufacturing.

  • Workforce of the Future Centre of Excellence: Focusing on promoting agility and digital adoption in manufacturing by cultivating a culture that values human engagement and innovation. 

Since its inception, DMI has delivered over 50 projects across various industries such as MedTech, Pharma, Automotive, and Semiconductors, offering tailored solutions to drive innovation and efficiency.
