Digital Holland

Digital Holland (formerly known as Top Sector ICT) was established in 2011 as part of the Dutch government’s initiative to bolster innovation across key sectors of the economy. Digital Holland identifies, prioritises and organises ICT research and innovation. It does this by bringing together public and private partners whose focus is on Digital and Information Technologies and societal challenges. Its involvement covers the process from fundamental research to commercialisation. Training emerging talent, reskilling, upskilling, knowledge dissemination, a broad involvement of the SME sector and international alliances are all important features of Digital Holland’s mission.

Digital Holland serves as a central hub for coordinating ICT research and innovation in the Netherlands. Its primary objectives include:

  • Facilitating Public-Private Partnerships: Bringing together businesses, government agencies, and research institutions to collaborate on ICT projects.

  • Promoting Key Enabling Technologies: Focusing on areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and digital connectivity to drive technological advancement.

  • Addressing Societal Challenges: Leveraging ICT solutions to tackle issues in healthcare, energy, security, and other critical sectors.

  • Enhancing Human Capital: Investing in education and training to develop a skilled workforce capable of supporting the digital transformation.

Through its initiatives, Digital Holland aims to position the Netherlands as a leader in digital innovation, ensuring the country’s competitiveness in the global economy.
