The Association for Virtual and Augmented Reality (AVRAR), founded on October 17, 2017, is the Czech Republic’s leading nonprofit network for immersive technologies. With its head office in Brno and a permanent presence in Prague, AVRAR brings together XR developers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and institutions across both the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Its president, Martin Kotek, and vice president, Jakub Stejskal, lead the organization with the aim of building a robust, inclusive XR ecosystem. AVRAR’s mission is to promote, support, and internationalize the development and application of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR) technologies, while connecting communities across Central Europe.
AVRAR acts as a catalyst for innovation by hosting events, facilitating meetups, and providing educational and training opportunities. It actively supports collaboration between startups, industry players, academia, and the public sector. Through its community-building efforts, AVRAR contributes to raising public awareness, sharing best practices, and fostering European cooperation in immersive tech.
Beyond networking and visibility, AVRAR also engages in policy advocacy and works to ensure immersive technologies are represented in national and EU strategies. It is recognized for bridging local innovation with global trends, and continues to position the Czech Republic as a significant player in the European XR landscape.
